His Dying Wish (Film Review)

[ad_1]

Have you ever watched a two-minute movie trailer and instantly knew you just had to see that movie? It didn’t matter if the movie was coming out in a month or if it was coming out in a one year. You just knew you had to see that movie. Well that is exactly what happened to me recently. Actress Crystal Nuchurch posted the trailer to her Facebook account in early January or February. It is a known fact that the purpose of movie clips or trailers are to entice the audience to make you want to see their film. Well this clip that I saw did not disappoint. It instantly drew me in with such force that I could barely wait the few months for it to premiere.

After viewing the many comments and likes on Facebook for the trailer I knew this movie was going to be big. And big it was. Almost every seat in the theater in Newark NJ was taken on June 9, 2016. Good thing I arrived early to get a good spot. I sat with my popcorn and beverage in hand as I waited for the drama to unfold before me. Five minutes into the film and there was a death that brought more than just emotional grief. Housewife Janet Harper portrayed by Crystal Nuchurch not only loses her husband Walt (David Harris) but she is about to lose her mind as well. Unbeknownst to her, her loving husband of over twenty years had a mistress. Talk about running as soon as you get out of the gate. Like other movie goers I yelled at the screen for Janet not to hit the much younger mistress Meagan (Carla Rodriguez) during a very tense moment. Janet’s witty yet hilarious neighbor Hannah (Faith B. Terrell) is by her side to help her get through this tough time. The suave attorney Steve (Ron Denson) tries to keep both women from killing each other. The film had its twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen next. With the intensity of the scenes with a grieving wife and a mistress who holds a secret this film is something to be seen.

Writer Drica Armstrong and Director Larry Rosen put together a film and cast so beautifully that it literally made music. I truly enjoyed this film from the very beginning to the very end.

How to Clean and Fix Your Oscillating Fan

[ad_1]

When cleaning the fan, you will need the following things:

-a screwdriver, to open the fan

-detergent and some warm water to clean it

-dry cloth or a towel to wipe off the remaining water

Not really a lot of things, right? Well, that’s one more benefit of oscillating fans-they are really easy to open and clean. An oscillating fan cools down more air than a regular fan, so it’s more likely to get dirty faster and more often. That’s why it’s design must allow easy cleaning.

So, the first thing you have to do in order to clean the fan safely is to unplug it from the electricity. After that wipe off the surface dust from the fan. When you have done that, you can begin disassembling it. Remove the grill by unscrewing the screws that keep it together. Some grills don’t have crews but clips and that makes the process even easier. Remove the blades by taking off the screws that keep them attached to the fan. Now you can use detergent to clean the grill and the blades. Be very careful with this because you don’t want any electrical components to get wet. After that use a dry towel or a cloth to dry the washed parts. Before reassembling, the grill and the blades should be left for some minutes to dry a bit more. That way, you will avoid getting injured or breaking down your fan. Reassemble the fan in the reversed order in which the parts were removed. Tightly screw in all the screws, plug it in and test it. Your crispy clean fan should now work perfectly, the ticking is probably gone, and the air is better because you stopped the accumulated dust from spreading around the room.

If you can hear the clicking noise while the head of the fan moves it could be just dirt. However, it could be that the gears are worn or loose. You will have to open it anyway so unplug it and to that.

– Take a screw driver and unscrew the grill of the fan. Take off the blades and clean them altogether with the grill, the shaft and the motor housing. For the grill and the blades you can use only water and detergent but for the shaft and the motor housing vacuum cleaning wouldn’t be such a bad idea. While you are there inspect the motor. If the gears look OK put everything back together again in the reverse order and plug the fan in the electricity. The fan should be running quietly now.

– If the gears look like they need a replacement or tightening up, then your work is not done yet. First check the set screw. If it’s loose tighten it up because this screw balances the blades and when it gets loose they are not balanced correctly and that may cause the buzzing and clicking sound.

– Also inspect the gear assembly and the motor housing. Try tightening them up. If you can then all should be good. But, if they can’t be tightened that means that they are worn and you have to replace them. After they are tightened or replaced lubricate the shaft and reassemble your fan.

The Hangover Part II – Completely The Same, But Exactly Different

[ad_1]

You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both and there you have The Hangover Part II, a movie that takes everything clever and amusing about its first part and turns it into something of a retread. We’ve seen it all before, and we certainly know the story: a few friends get way too drunk, wake up with no memory of anything that happened, and have to go on a fact-finding mission to recover the pieces of the night before. The film falls into the trap of its formula and can’t seem to get out. It worked in the first one because there’s no reason that any of that stuff should have happened – it wasn’t in the nature of those characters – but now it is in their nature, we’re taught to expect it, and there’s no reason it should have happened. Again. Maybe that’s funny to some people, but it belies the originality of the characters, characters I grew to love in the first film.

The Hangover was a character study, if you think about it. Yeah, it was a buddy movie, and a road movie, and a raunchy, R-rated comedy about a night of heavy drinking, but, at the risk of spoiling the joke, it was also about four guys with severe personality disorders learning about themselves. Given that, the film was interesting, and not just funny. It was a character-driven comedy, with dialogue carefully designed for the moment. Comedies are funniest when the situations are organic. The Hangover took that idea and flipped it on its head, making the punchlines the joke and the jokes the punchline, telling the entire film backwards, and placing our characters in situations that weren’t organic, but became organic because of another unknown situation that they had already been through. Part II does the same thing, but it’s expected, so the punchline that was the joke the first time around is now the punchline, but the situations they didn’t know about while they were drunk are still the punchline. It’s all about the payoff, but when there isn’t any buildup, how can we get the joke? Because we’ve heard it before? “Why the long face?” isn’t funny unless the horse walks into the bar.

When our film opens, Stu (Ed Helms) is marrying the gorgeous Lauren (Jamie Chung). Her father (Nirut Sirichanya) disapproves, probably because he saw The Hangover, but the plans go along anyway. Doug (Justin Bartha) and Phil (Bradley Cooper) are getting ready to go to Thailand for the wedding, and want to give Stu a bachelor party. Knowing that didn’t work too well last time, Stu instead opts for a “Bachelor Brunch” at IHOP. Not good enough. And as soon as Alan (Zack Galifianakis) is invited, it should be obvious to everyone involved that this isn’t going to end well. Of course, Alan was responsible for the mess in the first film, but he also saved the day, so, against Stu’s better judgment, he invites him to the wedding. They’re also given the task of looking after the bride’s little brother, kid genius Teddy (Mason Lee). They all go have a beer, and wake up hours later in a shady hostel room, with Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong), without Doug and, more importantly, with only Teddy’s finger, in the deep heart of seedy Bangkok.

Each character in the film is reduced to a simple version of the better characters they were in 2009. Doug is reduced to the conscience at the other end of the phone (remember Dwight Yoakam in Crank? It’s like that), and Mr. Chow is a sillier version of the effeminate gangster he used to be. He’s also pretty good friends with Alan. Phil is the only character treated with the same care as he was in the first film; he’s never been the better fourth of any of the group, but he’s a genuinely good man, and his parental care for Alan is still intact. Bradley Cooper does an excellent job in these films. I remember, in the first film, enjoying the child-like, clueless nature of Alan, and the way Zack G. played him as such. He never made fun of the character, and played it with as much conviction as Johnny Depp does Jack Sparrow, but here, the character isn’t charming anymore, and he’s a bit malicious; he’s no longer a silly man-child, just manic and unlikable. Stu, apparently, was given the proper amount of self-confidence by the end of the first film to pull any woman he wants, so he gets the picture-perfect Lauren, only to succumb to the same mess he did in the first film, almost to the letter. Instead of a good man in a bad situation, Stu just becomes a badly composed version of himself.

The Hangover Part II is well directed, just poorly written. Even the best-looking buildings can be poorly constructed. The absurdity and likability of the characters, most of them anyway, is compromised solely for eliciting laughs, and the situations aren’t   unique  or amusing anymore. It’s always sad watching a film you love become a bastardized version of itself for a paycheck. Of course, there’s always the caveat – The Hangover made me love these characters, and that was a character piece. I still do love the characters, and still do care about them, and I will see a third one, if it’s made, which it almost assuredly will be. I only hope that someone does something about Part II‘s horrendous screenplay. They need to return the characters back to their roots. Maybe Phil gets divorced, and the boys try to cheer him up? I’d see that. I heard rumors of a Mr. Chow spin-off, but I don’t see that working too well. Maybe it’s the way they left his character in this film, but I think that would just be a waste of time. Or, of course, Alan could get married. That’s a comedy in and of itself.

How Long Does it Take to Paint a Wood Window?

[ad_1]

Well it’s all going to depend on the size and the design of the wood window, but you can plan on spending quite a bit of time, painting these intricate architectural items.

Let me give you an idea, I had to paint 7 wood windows, one time and these didn’t have any architectural details to them, they were simply plain old wood windows. The type of windows that were installed through out the 1950s and would need to be replaced or repaired, in the near future.

You’re going to find this hard to believe, but I used to paint the outside of the house, a small house, for $300, and a homeowner would supply me with the paint. I had to buy the rest of the materials, but I could paint the exterior of these small homes, in about a day and a half.

Except for the wood windows, this was a totally different story and I wouldn’t paint the wood windows each time I painted the house. I would often touch the windows up, but the amount of time that it would usually take me to paint these windows, was unbelievable.

Keep something in mind here, I could paint the entire house in about 12 hours, but it would take me about the same amount of time, just to paint the exterior of these windows and more than half of them wouldn’t open, because they were previously painted shut.

If the wood window has any sort of architectural detail, or any grids or divided lites, you could plan on spending quite a bit of time, painting each window. If you’ve never painted a wood window before, plan on spending at the least four to six hours, for window smaller than 3′ x 3′ and plan on spending at least eight to 12 hours, or more, for larger wood windows.

If you’re a contractor, who’s going to be bidding a job, you might want to contact a professional painter or at least get someone else’s opinion, before signing the contract.

If you’re a homeowner, and you hire a professional painter and they gives you a ridiculous bit, now you know why.

A Solution For The Baby Boomer Retirement Crisis – It’s Not What You Think!

[ad_1]

It creeped up on you before you knew what happened. Maybe you were downsized and left with the decision to seek new employment or retire.

Perhaps you sought to remain in the workforce for a few more years, only to find out that the marketplace really changed for 50+ year olds. As a matter of fact, the good jobs for your age group, were gone.

How many of us Baby Boomers have experienced this or something similar? The realization of aging suddenly kicks in and it sucks!

What about the current lifestyle that we have become accustomed to? Are we going to have to cut back?

If we have a spouse in the workforce, what happens if the same thing happens to them? Don’t even want to think about that.

All of a sudden, the fear starts to set in and the scarcity mentality is in full gear. The house needs repairs and both cars are aging… How are we going to keep up?

Let’s put a stop to all of this right here and now. There is a course of action that will alleviate all of this. What is it?

What say we tap into the power of the internet and start our own online business. The entry fees are very low and the potential is unlimited.

There are no age barriers on the net. There will be no bosses on the web. We are in charge to build our business the way we would have it.

Probably, the first objection would be: “I know nothing on the tech side of things.” Fair concern. Problem solved with what I have in mind!

Second objection would probably go like this: “I have no clue as to what to do to earn money on the internet.” There is a training platform that will take care of that. Thousands are reaping the benefits and making money.

Third objection might be: “How do I know I can trust what you are saying?” That’s easy… Everything is wide open and transparent, as to what I am telling you.

You might be saying something like: “This sounds like an alternative to what I am facing in the job market. What do I need to do to check this out?”

Head on over to my site and see what is going on here. I think you will be pleased at what you see and it won’t cost you anything. Use the resource below and I’ll see you over there!

Continued success,

A Review of CLA Fat Loss Burner

[ad_1]

What is CLA Fat Burner, and does it work? CLA is also known as conjugated linoleic acid, and it’s been touted as a remedy to reduce body fat. It may even increase muscle tissue. Those who are most interested in CLA Fat Loss Burner are those who want to lose fat, and those who are athletes. It may in fact truly have benefit when it comes to both losing fat in gaining muscle.

How does CLA work?

Conjugated linoleic acid basically works by keeping fat cells from growing too large; the premise is that it may block enzymes that let fat cells grow.

Other researchers have suggested that CLA alters body composition by boosting muscle and burning fat because it metabolizes fat through a process that’s fairly complex. Basically, our bodily enzymes, like hormone sensitive lipase and lipoprotein lipase, appear to both speed up fat burning and block the uptake of new fat.

Is it scientifically backed?

A recent Scandinavian study decided to determine whether or not CLA could help people lose weight specifically by reducing fat mass overall. The study was relatively small, only 60 overweight people, and these participants were not allowed to diet.

The people in the study were either given 9 g of olive oil (placebo), or 6.8, 5.1, 3.4, or 1.7 g of CLA every day for a 12 week period. Participants’ body compositions were measured before, midway through, and after the study, to determine whether or not any changes had occurred. And in fact, the results were quite promising. Participants lost about 2.2 pounds in 12 weeks.

That doesn’t seem like much, but researchers were encouraged because participants didn’t otherwise change their diets or go on “special diets,” and still lost weight. Moreover, all of this weight loss came from fat loss.

Other studies have shown promises with CLA, too; another study tried to combine CLA with the herbal stimulant guarana. The herbal stimulant, which contains caffeine, increased results even further when used with the CLA, by decreasing fat cells’ size by 50% in six weeks. Therefore, this possible combination has even more promise (although it may have contraindications for some people too, namely its caffeine use).

Should you try CLA?

Trying CLA probably can’t hurt and may certainly help with weight loss, although you should check with your health care practitioner to make sure this is appropriate for you. Researchers have generally set the daily dosage at 3000 mg or 3 g, divided into three dosages of a gram each, taken with meals.

Further, if you boost your CLA intake further, and take between 3000 to 6000 mg of CLA, split into three dosages and taken with meals, you may also induce muscle growth. (It should also go without saying that a good diet and exercise will certainly make you healthier and will probably induce weight, too, along with taking CLA Fat Burner.)

History And Background Of Betta Fish

[ad_1]

Historically speaking, Betta Fish are said to have gotten their name from an ancient clan of Asian warriors called the “Bettah.” They were given these warriors’ names because about 150 years ago people enjoyed participating in a popular sport that involved the fighting of two of these warrior fish. (In fact, the sport was so popular that it was regulated – and taxed – by the King of Siam!)

One interesting note about Betta fish fighting is that, unlike cock or dog fighting in the west, at Siamese fighting fish tournaments, the actual fight was more to test the bravery of the fish, rather than a fight to see how much damage would be inflicted, or a death match.

Spectators bet on how long a particular fish would fight, and which one would give up first. (In fact, most fish would only fight once or twice, and then live out the remainder of their lives being pampered and used for breeding.)

Natural Habitat

A Betta fish’s natural habitat is in shallow, tropical water. This is because they need to be able to surface frequently, in order to breathe air. They can be found in nature in rice paddies, drainage ditches, slow moving streams and fresh water ponds. Betta fish have even been known thrive in large puddles! Their natural food source is insects and mosquito larvae.

How Breeding Began

According to historical accounts, a close friend of the King of Siam, Dr. Theodore Cantor received a pair of breeding Bettas from the king in 1840. The doctor bred them and studied them for several years, and then wrote a scientific paper about them, giving them a Latin name of “Macropodus Pugnax.” However, shortly after his paper was published, Dr. Cantor discovered that a species by that name already existed, and so the fish were renamed “Betta Splendens.”

Several breeding pairs of Bettas where sent to Germany in 1896 and then in 1910, Mr. Frank Locke of San Francisco California imported several Bettas to the U.S.A.

One of the fish that he received had unusual red fins – and he excitedly thought he had discovered a new species, and named it “Betta Cambodia.” In reality, he had one of the first of the Betta splendens that had naturally developed new colors and characteristics through breeding.

Since that time, breeders have been able to develop Bettas with all of the vibrant coloring and varied fin shapes that we find today. Betta breeding has become a profitable and ongoing passion for many people today, many of whom started with just one or two Bettas in a small aquarium.

I Dare You! By William H Danforth – A Book Review

[ad_1]

Title and Author: I Dare You! by William H. Danforth

Synopsis of Content:

In this mid 20th Century motivational classic the author, a successful businessman and crusader for youth programs in St. Louis, Missouri, William Danforth dares you and any other reader to do great things and to be great. Originally published in 1953 it has been republished by several sources in recent years.

Although the book is aimed at youth and young adults challenging them to become more than they might first believe possible it has motivational value for all ages. Danforth was a strong believer that we limit ourselves and that by seizing opportunity and believing in our virtually unlimited potential we could exceed all expectations, including our own, and dare to be great.

In addition to providing raw motivational material the book discusses seven primary areas, called “dares” where the author challenges the reader to go deeper and strive further in life. They include adventure, accomplishments, strength, creativity, magnetic personality, character, and the willingness to share what you have. These qualities will be recognized as common to most success books and materials published over the past two centuries. What distinguishes Danforth’s little book is his framing his challenge as a dare.

While the attributes which Danforth promotes are found in works by Marsden, Hill and others the daring approach used by this author is unique. It appealed to the young and youthful, whether it be the high school aged children who attended his summer camps or the young men entering the business world.

Readability/Writing Quality:

The Executive Books edition is only 144 pages. It is easy to read, having been aimed at young people. It may appear somewhat na├»ve and simplistic by today’s standards. However the motivational truths in this work are no less true today than they were over 60 years ago.

Notes on Author:

William Danforth was the founder and long time President of the Ralston Purina Company. He also served as President of the American Youth Foundation and was very active in the YMCA. During his summers he devoted his time to training and helping less fortunate young people at summer camps in Michigan and elsewhere. He died in 1956.

Three Great Ideas You Can Use:

1. “Wealth, notoriety, place, and power are no measure of success whatever. The only true measure of success is the ration between what we might have done and what we might have been on the one hand, and the thing we have made and the thing we have mad of ourselves on the other”.

2. Each of us has four hidden giants or resources which we must develop constantly to attain greatness. These include the physical, the mental, the social and the spiritual aspects. To attain a balanced and powerful life you must nourish each of these aspects fully.

3. Continuous learning and improvement are essential to achievement. The author recommends a program of reading not less than one book per month. It will pay you back many times.
